Today started out great. Willow finally ate breakfast, which she hadn't been, and we departed for our morning walk. Neighbors were outside across the street, and I waved and walked up the sidewalk with my wandering mind. Suddenly, my toe slammed into something and I began falling forward like a felled tree. I caught myself on the palms of my hands, and as I looked up, Willow was running up the street like a bat outa hell. "Surely", I thought, "this is just a bad dream and I will wake up safe and snug in my bed soon." Wishful thinking. That kind neighbor, asked if I was okay, got the keys to her car and said, "Get in." We found her, followed her as she ran when I called her name, and finally got her to stop. I got out of the car, and began walking up the sidewalk so she would follow. She did, and soon she caught up to me and I caught her leash. I picked that little girl up and got in the car, and that kind neighbor, Toni, who had 4 Siberian Huskies who often ran away, drove us home.
I know that I've taken on a lot with a rescue dog who is afraid of every person and every dog, and whose anxiety has increased 10 fold with my decision to live wherever, whenever I choose. But, we have grown closer in the 7 days we've been living in Minnie, and I believe she will find her way through the changes and come to love this life.
Here's a photo of Minnie in Danny and Stella's driveway. That's all I got for now. Maybe soon I'll post a photo of me and I'll ask you to answer this question...what's different about my hair?
Peace, Watson
Hmmm...technical difficulties with photo. Will try again tomorrow.
